Trust Review Or Changes

When Should Your Trust Be Reviewed Or Changed?

What are the triggering events in your life that would require a review of or changes to your estate planning documents?

  • At least every five years to make sure the documents are still consistent with your wishes and there are no major changes in the law that will affect those wishes.
  • You move.
  • You have children.
  • You get a divorce.
  • You get remarried.
  • You have new step-children.
  • You change your mind about your beneficiaries and/or their needs.
  • You have a substantial change in assets.
  • You are diagnosed with a serious illness.
  • Your child is diagnosed with an illness.
  • You have a new business or corporation.
  • There is a death of a named trustee or named guardian.

You want your voice, reflecting your present wishes, to be heard in the event of your incapacity or death.  It is important for you and your family.  If any of the above events have occurred, contact our office to have your estate planning documents reviewed and to discuss your options.

Do you really need to have your trust reviewed?

Your estate plan is like a car.  With proper attention and maintenance, they both work well when you need them to.  When neglected, neither runs properly or as intended.
